Get active! "All the people, so many people..."

THe Peak District, whilst having an abundance of nature, wildlife and beauty, is also bursting at the seams with things to do.

It's set in some of the most brilliant countryside around, so get out and enjoy it. If you're struggling for ideas about what to do, fret no further

.>Follow our guide as we sort out what's hot and what's not!

  Walking

> Here in the Peak District walking is very big. In fact it's so big...people go on walking holidays! They swop their sea and sand for hiking boots and hills but, if you fancy stepping out, why not tread on down to your nearest trail. For those who need a point in the right direction why not go on a guided walk? It's easy- you simply follow the person in front.<

Cycling > Ride on!! The Peak District is definitely cyclist friendly with miles of cycle routes. If you haven't got a bike, not to worry as there are plenty of places where you can hire one. If your really into cycling, you can spend the whole day zooming around the Peak, stopping only for the much needed ice cream break.<
>If you appreciate the views what better way to see them. Climb your way to the "top of the Peaks" on one of the organised climbing courses. Remember, you count and so does your safety. Climb in groups with a qualified instructor.>   Climbing
Caving > You've seen the heights, you've climbed the Peak! Now venture into the underworld of the Peak Park. The most interesting caves can be found around Castleton, Buxton, Stoney Middleton and Lathkill Dale. Once again remember safety is important so go in groups with a qualified instructor.<
Golf > Not unique to the area, but a good way to relax and unwind whilst taking in the spectacular scenery of the Park. This may not sound that appealing to you, but golf is becoming increasing popular. What with stars like Michael Owen, Catherine Zeta Jones and Chris Evans enjoying the sport, it's fast in danger of becoming trendy!<
  > One thing the Peak Park can boost is it's peace and quiet...just perfect for fishing. So dig out your waders and experience the best fly fishing around. An excellent place for a spot of fishing is probably a local reservoir where you can buy a day ticket. Remember you need permission to fish- otherwise you will be poaching /getting into trouble!>
Fishing
> Sounds boring? Think again! This is probably the best place to visit for a day out. Not only are there fantastic views, walks and the possibility of fishing, but you can also get out on the open water with sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and water-skiing, depending on where you go. An example of a Reservoir that really does have it all is Carsington, which also has it's own visitor centre with interactive exhibits, a shopping courtyard, eating places (Yum!) and it's own play ground complete with a "pirates ship" and "spider net".
